A framework application closes this week and you have not started

A framework application under time pressure is a different problem from a tender. Tenders ask what you will do on this contract; frameworks ask whether your organisation should be on the list at all, which means most of the work is evidence collection rather than writing. That is good news and bad news at short notice. Good, because the answers are largely factual and do not need a creative solution. Bad, because facts you do not have cannot be written around.

The honest bit

Framework windows are published months ahead, which means a supplier who finds one with a week to run has usually missed the preparation, not the deadline. It is often still worth bidding, because a place lasts years and the alternative is waiting for the next cycle. But if a mandatory accreditation is missing, no amount of writing fixes it, and we will tell you that on the first call rather than after you have paid.

What we need to start today

  • The application pack and the lot or lots you are considering
  • Your accreditations and insurance certificates, current and in the correct trading entity
  • Your last filed accounts, because financial standing is usually assessed on those rather than management figures
  • Two or three comparable contracts you can name, with real figures
  • The supplier numbers per lot if published, because a capped lot and an uncapped lot are different bids

When we will tell you not to bid

These are the things that make the situation undeliverable rather than merely tight. If any of them apply we will say so on the first call, before you spend anything.

  • A mandatory accreditation held in a sister company or an old trading name
  • Certificates that expired and cannot be reinstated inside the window
  • No comparable contracts in the sector the lot covers
  • Portal registration left until the final days, which is not instant
  • Bidding eight lots because you are eligible, rather than the two or three you can evidence properly

Questions people ask at this point

Can you complete a framework application in under a week?

Often yes, because framework questions are largely evidential rather than creative. The constraint is whether the evidence exists and is in the correct legal entity. We will check that first and tell you honestly whether the window is enough.

Should I bid every lot I am eligible for?

No. Evaluators score depth of evidence per lot, so a supplier bidding eight lots thinly scores worse than one bidding three properly. Under time pressure this matters more, not less. We will help you pick the lots where your references are closest to the scope.

What if I miss this framework window?

Then you wait for the next cycle, which can be years, unless the agreement allows new suppliers to join mid-term. Whether it does is set by the published agreement, and it is worth reading before assuming either way.

Tell us the deadline and we will tell you if it is doable

We respond the same day. Send the documents and the deadline and you will get a straight answer on whether it is deliverable, including if the answer is no. A bid you were never going to win costs more than the fee it would have earned.

Send us the deadline
